Review:
Children ages 5 and
older will love the
bees' silly antics,
though many of the
jokes will go right
over their heads and
parents should be
cautioned about some
mildly suggestive
humor. More than
just a comical film
about the life of
one very different
honeybee, Bee
Movie is a
social commentary
that pokes fun at
human behavior while
stressing the
importance of doing
even the most menial
job well and
championing the
power of working
together toward a
common goal. There's
even a lesson to be
learned from the
bees about
controlling one's
temper...more

Plot Summary: "Bee Movie" is a comedy that will change everything you
think you know about bees. Having just graduated from college, a bee by the name
of Barry B. Benson (Jerry Seinfeld) finds himself disillusioned with the
prospect of having only one career choice – honey. As he ventures outside of the
hive for the first time, he breaks one of the cardinal rules of the bee world
and talks to a human, a New York City florist named Vanessa (Renée Zellweger).
He is shocked to discover that the humans have been stealing and eating the
bees' honey for centuries, and ultimately realizes that his true calling in life
is to set the world right by suing the human race for stealing their precious
honey.
EN 5 Second Review:
Not a great movie by any means, but quite tolerable and
even slightly amusing if you must find something to take the kids too.
At
its relaxed best, when it's about, well, nothing, the slyly comic Bee
Movie is truly beguiling Peter Travers: Rolling Stone You can't have Jerry Seinfeld
co-write, co-produce and co-star in a movie without getting a major
payoff in laughs. But those eagerly waiting for the sight of Jerry on
the big screen will still have to wait (or watch his excellent 2002
documentary Comedian). Bee Movie is animated, and it's
damn hard to make a bee look like Jerry...more
Bee
Movie is certainly not low-budget, but it has all
the staying power and creative value of a B-movie. The
secret life of bees, as told by Seinfeld, is a bore with a
capital B. Claudia Puig: USA Today
"I never meant it to turn out like this," laments Barry B.
Benson (voiced by Jerry Seinfeld), a well-meaning bee,
referring to disastrous consequences that arise from
questioning humans profiting from honey. You can't help but
wonder if Seinfeld expressed a similar lament after seeing
the finished product of his first venture into animated
films...more
