Everyone's favorite funnyman
Steve Carell is at his
hilarious best as junior
congressman Evan Baxter,
whose wish to "change the
world" is heard by none
other than God (Academy
Award winner Morgan
Freeman). When God appears
with the perplexing request
to build an ark, Evan is
sure he is losing it. But
soon mysterious deliveries
of wood and tools are being
dropped on his doorstep,
animals of every shape and
size are flocking to him two
by two, and his
self-absorbed life goes from
overnight success to
almighty mess! It's a great
time for everyone
Review: It's hard enough being a rookie congressman with a campaign
promise to change the world, but when God himself shows up before you even
settle in and commands you to build a really big boat in the middle of a
Virginia housing development; well that takes it to a whole new level...more
Extras: Deleted
scenes, outtakes, "Animals
on Set Two by Two," "Animal
Roundup" game, "Steve Carell
Unscripted," "The Ark-itects
of Noah's Ark" featurette,
more.

Plot Summary: Steve Carell reprises his role
as Evan Baxter -- the polished, preening newscaster of the first film -- who
finds himself the next one anointed by God (Morgan Freeman) to accomplish a holy
mission.
Newly elected to Congress, Evan leaves Buffalo behind and shepherds his family
to suburban northern Virginia. Once there, his life gets turned upside-down when
God appears and mysteriously commands him to build an ark. But his befuddled
wife (Lauren Graham) and kids just can't decide whether Evan is having an
extraordinary mid-life crisis or is truly onto something of Biblical proportions
EN 5 Second Review:
Probably a little bit of cable fun, but we wont be
spending $9.00 to go see this.
"Somehow
this boat floats along, a lasting tribute to lightweight construction" Bill Muller: Arizona Republic Although the original was a little more mighty
(perhaps Carrey felt more comfortable in the role because he thinks he
actually is God), the sequel doesn't exactly sink....more
"It's
not that funny" Peter Travers: Rolling Stone
The shamelessly juvenile, pseudo-religious, mock-sincere
Evan Almighty is the most expensive Hollywood comedy
ever made...more
"Mildly
Funny" Lou Lumenick: NY Post
Though the strain sometimes shows, Carell's skill with
physical comedy is a saving grace that makes Evan
Almighty at least tolerable...more
