  You cannot beat the old form style (of saving the world), in effect what a Government official tells his companion in The Incredibles, which treats its subject matter with a James Bond exotica, including bent villains, and a cartoonish treatment of a Superman ethos (“Truth, justice and the American way”) coupled with superhero dynamics. But praising the old form, meaning traditional and proven methods are better, is an exaggeration: the frenzied climax, where comic book style good and evil superhero muscles, pit against each other, did not capture the imagination of this reviewer, albeit coming after a smart, funny and stylish beginning and middle. Pixar Pictures has an impressive back-catalogue of features including the audience friendly Toy Story series and last years biggest box-office hit, Finding Nemo. The ever improving financial success of the company’s output, and the fact that they are yet to suffer a box-office flop, meant that some members of the L.A community were sharpening their knives in anticipation of the first slip-up, but it is my pleasure to report that The Incredibles is one superhero movie that really earns it’s lyrca costume...more
