Review: The movie going audience these days is not only
sometimes fickle, but it is also spoiled. My wife and I saw pathfinder, and
after some of the terrible criticizing reviews I heard I was bracing for a
possibly terrible film. How surprised I was! Pathfinder was a fine film. If you
grew up in the 1970's and 80's and like gritty films with hard action, and
minimalist approaches, this pure and simple story of survival will probably be a
breath of fresh air for you (it was for me) and a chance to take a break away

Plot Summary: An action-adventure set in the
time when Vikings tried to conquer North America, "Pathfinder" tells the heroic
story of a young Norse boy left behind after his clan shipwrecks on the Eastern
shores. Despite his lineage, the boy is raised by the very Indians his kinsmen
set out to destroy. Now, as the Vikings return to stage another barbaric raid on
his village, the 25 year-old Norse warrior (Karl Urban) wages a personal war to
stop the Vikings' trail of death and destruction. Forging his own path, his
destiny is revealed and his identity re-claimed

At least three times during "Pathfinder", I found myself on
the verge of tears. It being a nearly plotless, endlessly brutal
adventure flick, this must come as a surprise to anyone reading this.
But here's the thing: I wasn't really moved by the story or characters
(though the hero's final cry of pride did get to me), but by a kind of
nostalgic joy as a moviegoer....more
I
can't figure out what the draw of this movie is supposed to
be Joshua Tyler: CinemaBlend Karl Urban aside, I can't
figure out what the draw of this movie is supposed to be,
and the trailer certainly doesn't help much. Vikings attack
Indians and leave behind one of their own, resulting in
what... bloodthirsty Indians?...more
