Plot Summary: The brave men and women of the
Washoe County Sheriff's Department -- the thin khaki line that keeps Reno,
Nevada on the straight and narrow -- star in their first feature film, based on
the hit Comedy Central television series. The deputies of the Reno Sheriffs
Department attend a law enforcement convention in Miami Beach, where the motley
crew is charged with protecting the city after bioterrorists attack the
convention.
EN 5 Second Review:
It's a long episode just like t.v. with boobies. Not
that that's a bad thing, but we can watch this by combining the regular
show with cinemax every night, and we often do.
"Reno
911!: Miami" will suffice for fans hungry for new material and tired of
waiting for the show's fourth season to end or the fifth to start. Dan Zak: Washington Post
Compared with the series, yes, it's a compromise. "Reno
911!: Miami" cribs some bits from the show, but serial television
remains the better medium for this particular work. In a single film
there is less chance to get to know the characters, whose tics,
prejudices and inanities require more than 84 minutes divided among
eight talented actors, who must ration their mugging and face time to
keep the movie rolling...more
The
film often feels more like a stretched-out half-hour episode Allen Chun: LA Times
While the film offers a definite step up in
production values from its TV counterpart, big screen-worthy
scenes are few and far between. And aside from uncensored
profanity and unpixelated nudity, the "Reno 911!: Miami"
never really stretches its legs, and instead often feels
more like a stretched-out half-hour episode....more
There
are few bits that evoke the uproarious laughter the TV
version manages on a regular basis Jason Ferguson: Orlando Weekly
Overlong and unimaginative, this inflammation of the
usually hilarious Comedy Central show goes to great lengths
to justify its extended running time, but winds up repeating
its jokes before the first act is over...more
