Review:
This film had awfully big
shoes to fill with the
highly successful Spider-Man
2 which is arguably the best
comic-book film of all time.
One can't fault the spidey
team for trying to be
ambitious here, but they
just can't exceed, let alone
match, their previous
effort. This film is
extremely satsifying and
deserves to be the
blockbuster that it is with
its record setting $148
million opening weekend,
outdoing Pirates 2 the
previous opening weekend

Plot Summary: Columbia Pictures' "Spider-Man
3" reunites the cast and filmmakers from the first two blockbuster adventures
for a web of secrets, vengeance, love, and forgiveness that will transport
worldwide audiences to thrilling new heights on May 4, 2007.
In "Spider-Man 3," based on the legendary Marvel Comics series, Peter Parker has
finally managed to strike a balance between his devotion to M.J. and his duties
as a superhero. But there is a storm brewing on the horizon. When his suit
suddenly changes, turning jet-black and enhancing his powers, it transforms
Peter as well, bringing out the dark, vengeful side of his personality that he
is struggling to control. Under the influence of the suit, Peter becomes
overconfident and starts to neglect the people who care about him most. Forced
to choose between the seductive power of the new suit and the compassionate hero
he used to be, Peter must overcome his personal demons as two of the most-feared
villains yet, Sandman and Venom, gather unparalleled power and a thirst for
retribution to threaten Peter and everyone he loves
EN 5 Second Review:
This is a must see as we see the webslinger wrestle his
inner demons.
Spiderman
2 is a better movie than 2002’s Spiderman,
so I had my expectations raised for Spiderman 3. Peter Veugelaers:
EntertainmentNutz.com This sequel sounds predictable - it just
depends on how well it is executed. Ultimately predictable it is,
but the execution is deft...
Action-packed,
with all the digital fireworks that a $250 million (or more) budget can
buy, it's both the most grandiose chapter and the nuttiest David Ansen: Newsweek
Superman has always been the star of "Superman," not Clark
Kent. Same goes for Batman/Bruce Wayne, only a little less so. What's
different about the Spider-Man series is that it's always been more
about sensitive, vulnerable Peter Parker than about his superhuman alter
ego....more
There
are so many super-villains buzzing around like flies in
Spider-Man 3 that the web of plots, subplots,
flashbacks and unnecessary character amplifications makes it
feel more like Spider-Man³ Bruce Newman: San Jose Mercury
News Everything in this third
installment of the popular franchise has been pumped full of
noise and hot air, and the stakes raised to the third power.
But Spidey cubed is only about half as good as he was last

No
matter how much it costs and what its flaws, Spider-Man
3 still gets a lot of bang for the buck Bill Goodykoontz: Arizona Republic
The third installment in the Marvel comic hero's story
squeezes in a little bit of everything. There's the usual -
love, loss and redemption, with a side order of forgiveness
- along with positively stunning visual effects, a nice role
reversal and a couple of extra bad guys thrown in at no
extra charge (to the audience, if not the producers)....more
