Not
all sci-fi has some great deeper meaning, some of it is just campy fun. They
don't come any campier than Cleopatra 2525. Cleopatra 2525 aired for two
seasons, starting January 2000 and ending March 2001. It appeared as the first
part of the Back2Back Action Hour, followed by Jack of All Trades.
Both series were notable as the first half-hour, live-action adventure series to
be produced for American television since the 1970s.
This is the season as well as series premier from January 2000 for a campy look
back at a series that was a lot of fun if very bad.
We admit its like watching a
train wreck - you just can't look away. That's the fun of it. Heck its worth
watching just for the wonderfully campy theme song sung by one of the shows
stars (Gina Torres). We promise at 22 minutes its worth it for the laughs alone.
The girls live deep underground, following military orders - from
mysterious Voice (Elizabeth Hawthorne) - like a sci-fi
Charlie's Angels.
Seriously we could not make this stuff up, just watch and see.
In the series premiere, Hel (Gina Torres) and Sarge (Victoria
Pratt), two warriors in the year 2525, rescue Cleopatra (Jennifer Sky), an
aspiring actress (read nudie dancer) who awakens from a cryogenic deep freeze
after five centuries to find the world turned upside down.

Cleopatra 2525: Quest for Firepower
Series Information:
Cleo is an exotic dancer who
unintentionally goes into suspended animation after having breast
augmentation surgery. She awakes 500 years in the future and teams with
two other women, joining their fight against the Baileys, armed flying
machines who control the surface of the Earth. Her team leader Hel
receives their orders from a mysterious female entity named "Voice", who
relays the orders via a communications implant under Hel's left ear.
Voice controls many other teams and gives them their orders in a similar
fashion, in effect forming a resistance to the Baileys, with their
ultimate goal to retake the Earths surface. Their final team member is
Sarge, whose sister belongs to a cult that regards the Baileys with
reverence and willingly sacrifices themselves to them. Humanity has
moved underground and built a complex of elaborate shafts and tunnels
created by the "shaft builders" to survive the Bailey menace. Cleo
(pictured above on the right) wows the 26th century denizens with her
philosophical sayings (many of which come from 20th century popular
culture).
