Plot Summary:
"The Last legion" is a fantasy action-adventure in
the vein of "The
Sword and the Stone" set against the fall of Rome and its last emperor, 12
year-old Romulus Augustus, the boy who would rule for a day before losing all
that he loved: his family, his home, and an empire that once stood for truth and
honor. Imprisoned on the island-fortress of Capri, Romulus searches for a means
of escape. He discovers instead "excaliburnus," the legendary sword of Julius
Caesar, and realizes that he must do all in his power to save Rome. Aided by the
clever strategies of his teacher, Ambrosinus, and the heroic skills of his loyal
legionnaire, Aurelius, Romulus escapes the island. Accompanied by his friends
and a mysterious envoy from Constantinople, Romulus travels to Britannia in
search of the last Roman Legion – the fabled Dragon Legion. There, Romulus will
fight alongside his friends to make his last stand for Rome and take his first
steps to becoming a man and he king who would father a legend.
EN 5 Second Review:
Just a complete snoozefest. Give me my CGI, No one is
this nostalgic!
Aishwarya Rai is cute as a button and
tough as nails though in making the transition from Bollywood to
Hollywood.
The
Last Legion is more quaint than thrilling, but it's refreshing to
see an old style sword fighting movie that's not completely dependent on

You’ve perhaps got to be a bit sceptical when the main
appeal of a swords and horses action movie is an almost melancholic
nostalgia rather than a pure adrenalin rush...more
Once
you accept The Last Legion for what it is, namely a Saturday
adventure matinee show aimed at impressionable 10-year-old
boys, then you'll have a passable time at the cinema . . .
Sort of James O'Ehley: SA Movies
As long as you're not expecting Gladiator (rather think
those Steve Reeves sandal epics of yesteryear) then you'll
be reasonably entertained by this adventure “epic” - and as
long as you have a healthy sense of irony about you...more
